Students organize an annual artivism project, develop annual themes and new partnerships on and off campus, and sustain pre-existing partnerships. They also assess campus needs, publicize creative spaces, organize an opening reception, and connect the act of creating and viewing art to activism. Not required but is optional if student enrolls in WGSS 373.
Outcomes: Create connections across campus and in the local community. Research artivism and gender-based forms of art in action. Develop skills in collaboration, communication, and listening. Create an inclusive campus community.
Many opportunities are possible each year in four major productions or in 3-5 student-directed, designed, and acted black box productions. Diversity is a critical component of academic excellence and we are committed to open casting and productions that speak to various perspectives we find in life. With substantial cast role or crew position, students can receive 1-4 credits in the semester for a given production.
Outcomes: Completed theatrical production. Students experience all parts of the production process from original ideation to final closing-out and takedown.
