Project Description:
To understand the process of intergenerational transmission of racist and nationalist attitudes, specifically White nationalist beliefs, from parents to children. Students will participate in the first step of the research process by defining the White nationalist beliefs construct and figuring out the best way to assess it in adults. They will analyze existing literature, identify scales that tap into broader constructs such as nationalism, racial prejudice, and anti-immigrant attitudes, and use latent profile analysis to distinguish individuals with extreme White nationalist beliefs from others. Students in all majors who are interested in social justice are encouraged to apply.
